Art plays an important role at NeneGate. Our aim is to give students the opportunity to express themselves creatively and imaginatively. Students explore a range of processes and media in order to develop their own visual identity.

Key Stage 2/3:

In key stage 2 and 3, students develop artistic responses to their creative curriculum subjects. This involves looking at the work of other artists and designers, both contemporary and from other times and cultures. They are given the opportunity to develop their existing skills with well-known materials as well as exploring less familiar media. This includes:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Printmaking
  • Sculpture
  • Textiles
  • Graphic design

Key stage 4

Beginning in year 9 and continuing through years 10 and 11 as an optional subject, students are given the opportunity to complete units towards the WJEC Entry Pathways qualification in Creative, Media and Performing Arts. This includes units in painting and drawing, printmaking and ceramics.
